The ordeal began when a woman posing as a bank employee from Volksbank Ransbach-Baumbach called the victim. During the call, she claimed that an attempt had been made to withdraw money from the victim's account and needed to verify account details.
In a concerning turn of events, the victim provided her IBAN and PIN to the caller, unaware of the potential danger. However, the victim became suspicious and refused to let the caller's supposed 'employee' examine her bank card. In response, the caller said the employee needed to examine and verify the bank card.
Shortly after, a man appeared at the victim's home, claiming to be the bank employee in question. He was described as approximately 40 years old, of German appearance, about 1.70m tall, wearing a colorful summer shirt, long pants, and carrying a gray helmet. The man arrived on a motor scooter, parked by the roadside, but no details about the scooter were provided.
