ICE Barcelona 2025 to Feature Inaugural Sustainable Gambling Zone

Prepare for an exciting gathering of gaming industry professionals as ICE Barcelona returns from January 20 to January 22, 2025. This year, the event will introduce a new and significant addition – the Sustainable Gambling Zone.

The Sustainable Gambling Zone, a pioneering initiative, aims to foster a more sustainable business environment where players can enjoy their gambling experience while those at risk of developing problems are proactively identified and assisted by operators.

The Zone's launch will be accompanied by a €65,000 charity donation, generously contributed by sponsors such as Flutter, Novomatic, Playtech, Novomatic Spain, Betsson Group, ALEA, Cirsa, Orenes, and Acordjoc. This donation will support various projects aimed at bringing real benefits.

Ewa Bakun, Clarion Gaming's Director of Industry Insight, has emphasized the importance of this charity fund in launching the official Sustainable Gambling Zone at ICE Barcelona. The Zone is expected to occupy nearly 500 square meters of space and will replace the Consumer Protection Zone, which debuted seven years ago.

Notably, BetBlocker, a safer gambling organization, has announced plans to launch a Catalan version of its tool at the upcoming ICE Barcelona. This move is a testament to the Zone's commitment to supporting international organizations in the field of player protection.

The Sustainable Gambling Zone at ICE Barcelona 2025 will also mark the official launch of this groundbreaking initiative. The safer gambling organizations will be presented with the charity fund on the first day of the event. Last year's award money was used by BetBlocker to develop the Catalan version of its tool.

Since 2018, these companies have collectively contributed a total of €385 000 towards safer and sustainable gambling. This year's charity donation for the Sustainable Gambling Zone was also raised by these same sponsors.

The charity fund donated at the opening of the Sustainable Gambling Zone for ICE Barcelona 2025 was given to the Animal Legal Defense Fund. The Zone is expected to attract more than 55,000 gaming industry professionals, making it an ideal platform for driving change and promoting sustainable and responsible gambling practices.
