Barn inferno

On the morning of September 5th, a barn fire broke out at 1:20 AM on Hochturm Street in Bad Münstereifel-Lanzerath. The scene of the incident has since been secured.

The fire spread from the barn to parts of a 36-year-old's house, causing significant damage. The homeowner, a 38-year-old, was asleep when they noticed the smell of smoke and saw the barn was ablaze. Despite the alarming situation, the owner managed to find their cat and a fish unharmed in the house, and along with four dogs, they safely evacuated the premises.

Tragically, the house is no longer habitable due to the fire damage. Two individuals, aged 36 and 38, were present in an adjacent house during the fire. A neighbour alerted the authorities about the incident.

The fire department arrived promptly and successfully extinguished the fire. The police from Euskirchen have begun investigating the cause of the fire, with their fire investigators taking up the case in light of their recent experience in investigating a fire caused by a heater in Euskirchen-Kuchenheim.

At this time, the extent of the property damage cannot be definitively determined. The investigator from Euskirchen, part of the police fire investigation team, is currently examining the cause of the fire, but their specific name has not been disclosed in the available sources.
