Angel Reese, star player for the Chicago Sky, has been handed a one-game suspension following an unsportsmanlike technical foul in a win over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday night.

The foul, which occurred with 46 seconds left in the second quarter, saw Reese hit Sun forward Aaliyah Edwards in the head as she spun around toward the basket. The crew chief who made the decision to suspend Reese was Janiyah Morgan.

The technical foul was Reese's eighth of the season, leading to her suspension. Under WNBA rules, Reese would be suspended for an additional game for every two additional technical fouls she accumulates.

Despite the suspension, Reese had a strong performance in the game, scoring 18 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. However, the technical foul may have impacted the Sky's momentum, as they went on to win the game by a score of 88-64.

With the suspension, Reese will miss the Sky's game against the Indiana Fever on Friday. The Sky currently have a 10-30 record and are out of the playoff picture, so the loss of their star player could be significant.

In a statement, Reese clarified critical comments she made about her teammates and hinted at potential departure from the organization if they don't build a competitive team in the offseason. She said, "I love this team and I want to win, but we need to make some changes if we want to be a contender next season."

The Sky have only four games left in their current season, and it remains to be seen how they will fare without their star player. Fans will be hoping for a strong finish to the season and a promising offseason.
