Bayern Munich pulls out of the negotiations for Jackson's transfer
Enzo Maresca, coach of FC Chelsea, finds himself in a challenging situation as he prepares for upcoming games without a trained striker at his disposal, following an injury to Liam Delap during the league game against FC Fulham on the 30th of August.
The injury to Delap, who was slated to be Jackson's successor at FC Chelsea, comes as a blow to Maresca, who is already grappling with the cancellation of Nicolas Jackson's loan to FC Bayern. The Bundesliga club had been pursuing a season-long loan with an obligation to buy permanently for €65 million in summer 2026.
The transfer saga, which began in late August 2025, has seen numerous twists and turns. On the 30th of August, Max Eberl, a representative of FC Bayern, expressed little hope for the transfer, stating that the player would have to return to London. However, by the end of the day, the loan deal was officially cancelled.
Despite the setback, Bayern Munich continues to seek offensive reinforcement, with Jackson's agent confirming that they are not returning to London. The club is now exploring alternatives, a move necessitated by the cancellation of the Jackson deal and the subsequent lack of a trained striker.
Meanwhile, at FC Chelsea, Joao Pedro steps in to replace the injured Cole Palmer in the offensive midfield, while Tyrique George played in the center against Fulham due to the lack of trained strikers. Delap's injury could mean an absence of several weeks, if not months, further complicating Maresca's plans.
The cancellation of the Jackson loan deal has left Bayern Munich without a potential offensive reinforcement just days before the end of the transfer period. The club had reportedly observed Liam Delap as a potential alternative, but with Delap injured and the Jackson deal off the table, Bayern finds itself in a precarious position.
As of August 31, 22:59, a transfer of Jackson to FC Bayern is definitively off the table. Jackson and his agent were still in Munich, hoping for a breakthrough, but it seems the transfer window has closed on this particular deal.
In the wake of these developments, both clubs must now look to their existing squads and potential last-minute signings to navigate the remaining fixtures of the season.
