BCCI Annual General Meeting Scheduled for September 28, with Elections of Leadership Highlighted; Find Out the Details
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28, 20XX, at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai at 11:30 am. This meeting, as previously announced, will also include elections for five office-bearer posts: president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer.
According to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, who made the statement to IANS on Saturday, the elections and nominations for these positions are conducted once every three years according to the BCCI constitution. The current BCCI Chairman, Arun Dhumal, is expected to step down due to completing six overall years in the board and needing to go on a cooling-off period.
Rajeev Shukla, the BCCI vice-president since late 2020, has been managing things at the top of the BCCI in the absence of Dhumal. Shukla is the senior-most office-bearer in the BCCI's present regime.
The candidate likely to be nominated for the position of IPL Chairman at the BCCI AGM on September 28 is Jay Shah. No further details about the candidates or nominations for the other office-bearer posts were provided in the article.
It is worth noting that the BCCI AGM is scheduled on the same day as the 2025 Men's T20 Asia Cup final. The final match of the tournament is slated to be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The venue and time for the BCCI AGM are decided by the president of the BCCI. The AGM and elections are being reported by Zee News. The BCCI AGM must be held annually by September 30 as per the BCCI constitution.
Recently, Rohan Gauns Desai and Prabhtej Bhatia were elected as joint secretary and treasurer of the BCCI, respectively. However, the ineligibility of former India cricketer Roger Binny to continue as BCCI president after turning 70 on July 19 has left a vacancy in the top position of the BCCI.
With the BCCI AGM approaching, cricket fans and enthusiasts eagerly await the announcement of the new office-bearers who will lead the Indian cricket board for the next three years.
