Belgium Secures Impressive 6-0 Victory in 2026 World Cup Qualifier
Belgium continues to impress in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, securing a dominant 6-0 victory over Liechtenstein at the Rheinpark Stadion in Vaduz. The victory propels Belgium to third position in Group J, with seven points from their three qualifying matches so far.
The match started off slowly, with Belgium taking a 1-0 lead only in the 46th minute through Captain Youri Tielemans. The score remained 1-0 until a minute into the second half, when Tielemans scored his second goal from a penalty kick, making it 2-0.
Maxim De Cuyper, Arthur Theate, and Kevin De Bruyne also found the back of the net for Belgium, with De Bruyne's goal coming from a neat finish from Hans Vanaken's reverse pass, making it 4-0. Malick Fofana, in his second international cap, rounded off the scoring for Belgium, finishing a well-worked move late in the game.
Liechtenstein, currently at the bottom of Group J with four defeats, struggled to create chances against a resilient Belgian defence. Wales leads the group with ten points, three more than Belgium, who have one game in hand.
Coach Rudi Garcia was pleased with his team's performance, stating, "We knew it was important to get a good result today, and I think the boys did a fantastic job. We still have a lot of work to do, but we're on the right track."
Belgium's next qualifier will be a crucial encounter against Wales, which could potentially see them overtake their rivals at the top of the group. With two games in hand, the Red Devils will be confident of mounting a serious challenge for the top spot.
