Belgian broadcaster RTBF is set to revolutionise live production with the implementation of EVS's Flexible Control Room (FCR) solution in its upcoming all-IP production hub, scheduled to open next year.

In a collaborative effort with EVS, RTBF's CEO, Jean-Paul Philippot, is driving the integration of the Tactiq modular control room interface into the heart of the new production centre. This software-defined, reconfigurable environment is designed for flexibility and future-proof performance.

Tactiq, a versatile control room interface, empowers users to assign any workstation to any task, whether controlled via touchscreen or physical controller. This decoupling from backend systems allows for unparalleled adaptability, making the RTBF production hub a flexible space that adapts to production needs.

Each operator position in the hub becomes multifunctional with Tactiq, enhancing collaboration, maximising team efficiency, and enabling flexible workflows. This transformation not only streamlines operations but also creates new opportunities for production staff to take on different operational roles.

The partnership between RTBF and EVS has been instrumental in validating the FCR vision, and the FCR solution aligns with the EBU's Dynamic Media Facility concept for modern, software-defined production infrastructures. The FCR solution offers unprecedented flexibility and scalability for broadcasters, making it an ideal choice for RTBF's innovative approach to live production.

As described by EVS CEO, Serge Van Herck, the FCR solution opens up new opportunities for innovation and collaboration in live production. RTBF's decision to choose Tactiq as part of the new technology for the hub is a testament to this vision, reimagining the control room as a flexible space that adapts to production needs, rather than the other way around.

The RTBF production hub, with Tactiq and the FCR solution, is designed around how the broadcaster wants to work, ensuring a seamless transition into the future of live production. This innovative approach is set to redefine the way live broadcasting is approached, offering a blueprint for other broadcasters to follow.
