Berlusconi family holds complete dominion over ProSiebenSat.1 media company.

In a significant move, the Berlusconi group, Media for Europe (MFE), has gained full control of the German television conglomerate ProSiebenSat.1. This acquisition, announced recently, has seen MFE secure a total of 75.61 percent of the voting rights.

The strategic focus following this acquisition is reflected in the appointment of Lennart Harendza as the co-CEO of Seven. One Media, a key subsidiary of ProSiebenSat.1. This leadership change aligns with MFE's ambitions, as outlined by its leader, Pier Silvio Berlusconi.

MFE's acquisition of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE is part of a broader plan to create a European network. This move expands MFE's existing television networks in Italy and Spain, and opens up opportunities for increased control over news, entertainment, and original productions.

ProSiebenSat.1's portfolio includes streaming provider Joyn and popular channels like ProSieben, Sat.1, and Kabel Eins. The conglomerate is one of the two major private television conglomerates in Germany, alongside the RTL family.

The initial offer period for MFE ended in mid-August, at which point it controlled 43.6 percent of the shares. During the subsequent extension period, MFE acquired additional shares, including the 15.7 percent stake previously held by the Czech major shareholder PPF.

The acquisition has raised concerns about editorial independence, with several parties, including the German Minister of State for Media, emphasizing its importance in this context. However, MFE has assured that jobs at ProSiebenSat.1 will be maintained.

Silvio Berlusconi, the patriarch, used his media conglomerate to promote his political career and the party he founded, Forza Italia. Despite the Berlusconi children not entering politics, they remain close to the party. The Italian Berlusconi family has expressed intentions to build a European broadcasting group.

Notable formats under ProSiebenSat.1 include "Germany's Next Topmodel," "Joko & Klaas gegen ProSieben," "The Voice of Germany," "Rosins Restaurants," and "jerks." The son of the late former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has outlined a focus on the German audience for ProSiebenSat.1 SE, with plans to increase news, entertainment, and original productions while reducing purchased formats.

MFE's acquisition of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE marks a significant step towards creating a European network, with the Berlusconi family aiming to achieve significant savings through the cooperation of networks in Italy, Spain, and Germany. The future of European broadcasting is set to be shaped by this acquisition, as MFE continues to build its European network.
