Biker, aged 49, perishes following accident on Nimitz Highway
Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Nimitz Highway in Kalihi
A tragic incident took place on Nimitz Highway in Kalihi this morning, claiming the life of a 49-year-old man. The motorcycle crash occurred while he was traveling westbound on the highway.
According to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), they responded to the scene of the accident. Upon arrival, they found the man ejected onto the road after colliding with the concrete curb. Despite their best efforts, HEMS personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The crash resulted in Oahu's 56th traffic fatality this year, a significant increase from the 27 traffic fatalities at the same time in 2024. Speed appears to have been a contributing factor in the accident, as the man was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed.
The police are currently investigating the accident, with Officer Santos leading the investigation. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
