Billionaire Status Achieved: Michael Saylor Makes Bloomberg's Wealth Rankings, Revealing Key Particulars

Michael Saylor, co-founder and executive chairman of Strategy, has made a significant stride in the world of finance, entering the Bloomberg Billionaires Index for the first time. This milestone comes as Strategy continues to make waves in the cryptocurrency market.

Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has seen impressive growth in 2025. The company has raised over $19 billion year-to-date, with around $6 billion raised across four perpetual preferred offerings in a single year. This capital has been instrumental in Strategy's success.

The company's recent $14 billion unrealized gain last quarter theoretically meets the profitability required for index eligibility under present rules of the Bloomberg Billionaire Index. However, Strategy has not been added to the S&P 500 index, surprising the crypto community.

Despite this, Strategy's net worth remains undisclosed. The Bloomberg Billionaire Index, a daily ranking of the world's richest people based on their net worth, currently ranks Binance founder Changpeng "CZ" Zhao at 40th with a net worth of $44.5 billion, and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong at 234th with a net worth of $12.8 billion.

Michael Saylor's net worth, on the other hand, has seen significant year-to-date growth. As of Sept. 7, 2025, he is ranked 491st on the Bloomberg Billionaire Index with an estimated net worth of $7.37 billion. This places him above figures such as Tomiwabold Olajide, Ethereum Is Dying Researcher, and XRP Golden Cross Fakeout, among others.

Strategy's success can be attributed in part to its significant Bitcoin holdings. The company currently holds 636,505 BTC, worth nearly $46.95 billion at $73,765 per Bitcoin (as of Sept. 1, 2025). This Bitcoin bet, which began in August 2020, has contributed to Strategy's multiplication by nearly 26 times since the end of 2022.

It's important to note that the Bloomberg Billionaire Index provides financial and market information intended for informational purposes only. The ranking of individuals may change daily due to market fluctuations and other factors.

One of Strategy's largest crypto capital raises this year was its $2.5 billion "Stretch" offering, which surpassed Circle's high-profile IPO. This demonstrates the company's continued dominance in the cryptocurrency market.

However, the S&P 500 index, which consists of 500 large U.S. companies selected for market size, liquidity, and industry by Standard & Poor’s, is periodically adjusted. While Strategy meets the profitability requirements, it is not a company included in this index.

In conclusion, Michael Saylor's entry into the Bloomberg Billionaires Index is a testament to Strategy's success in the cryptocurrency market. Despite not being added to the S&P 500 index, the company continues to make headlines with its significant Bitcoin holdings and capital raises.
