BMW Group reaches milestone of selling three millionth electrified vehicle
BMW Group's Electrified Vehicle Sales Soar in Europe
The BMW Group has announced a significant surge in the sales of its electrified vehicles, with more than 60% of these deliveries going to Europe in the first half of 2025. This marked increase is largely attributed to the popularity of plug-in hybrids, which saw a significant boost in sales compared to the previous year.
Jochen Goller, a member of the board of BMW AG responsible for customers, brands, and sales, stated that electrified vehicles are a key component of the company's technology-neutral product portfolio. The BMW Group currently offers more than ten plug-in hybrid models for customers, and these have been particularly successful in Europe.
The strong sales of fully electric models and plug-in hybrids have helped the BMW Group achieve a milestone, with more than every fourth vehicle sold in the first half of 2025 being electrified. The share of electrified vehicles in the total sales of the BMW Group is over 40% in Europe, making it the largest market for electrified vehicles of the BMW Group.
The BMW Group's focus on electric, digital, and circular mobility of the future is evident in these sales figures. The company sold its 1.5 millionth fully electric vehicle at the beginning of July, and this was followed by the sale of the three millionth electrified vehicle in August 2025. If lined up, the 1.5 million fully electric vehicles delivered by BMW Group would cover a distance of over 6,500 kilometers, equivalent to the distance from Munich to New York.
While Europe is the largest market for electrified vehicles of the BMW Group, the region with the largest market share in the first half of 2025 was China, with electrified vehicles accounting for less than 40% of the BMW Group's total sales in that region.
As of the current period, BMW Group offers more than 15 fully electric models across all corporate brands. The 1.5 millionth electric vehicle sold by BMW Group was a battery-powered MINI Countryman from the Leipzig plant.
The BMW Group's sales of electrified vehicles have significantly increased in the first half of 2025, indicating a promising future for the company's commitment to sustainable mobility.
