BMW Unveils Electric 3 Series as Part of New Product Offensive

BMW has revealed the new electric BMW 3 Series, set to arrive next year and badged as the i3. The announcement was made at the launch of the new iX3 electric SUV on Friday.

The new i3, a powerful symbol of BMW's Neue Klasse models, has been spotted testing on public roads over the past year. It inherits the classic proportions of a typical sporty BMW, similar to its predecessors.

Speaking at the iX3 launch, BMW chairman Oliver Zipse confirmed that the new i3, which will arrive next year, will be all electric and the first model variant of the new 3 Series generation. This will be the first time BMW offers a 3 Series-sized model with an electric powertrain in Europe.

The new electric BMW 3 Series will become the second model in the company's Neue Klasse range. It will be the smallest EV the brand offers, and a part of the broad spectrum the Neue Klasse models will cover.

The new i3 has evolved from the Vision Neue Klasse concept, which was revealed in 2023. Like the iX3, it represents sheer driving pleasure at its finest.

BMW plans to launch a new version of each model starting next year, with a total of 40 new and updated models by 2027. The new i3 and iX3, revealed under camouflage, will spearhead a product offensive from BMW next year.

For the past 50 years, no other model has been as tied to the BMW brand as the 3 Series, and the new i3 continues this tradition. The new electric BMW 3 Series will offer a sporty and efficient driving experience, appealing to both existing and new BMW customers.

While there is no official release date for the new BMW i3 model, it is expected to hit the markets next year. BMW is currently focusing on the "Neue Klasse" and new electric models like the BMW iX3 launching in 2026, but no specific announcement exists for a new BMW i3 release.

Stay tuned for more updates on the electric BMW 3 Series as we approach its launch next year.
