Bomb disarmed safely in Frankfurt from World War I era

In an unexpected turn of events, two World War II unexploded bombs were discovered on separate days in Frankfurt-Fechenheim and Cologne.

On Friday, a 75-kilogram bomb was found on an industrial site in Frankfurt-Fechenheim. The Frankfurt fire department, along with their bomb disposal squad, successfully defused the ordnance on the same day. Around 300 people had to temporarily leave their homes due to the operation, but thankfully, the defusal went "better than expected."

In Cologne, a separate bomb was discovered, and the exact details of its type and weight are not yet known. The Rhein-Main Transport Association (RMV) reported deviations in public transport due to the bomb defusal. The heavily trafficked Hanauer LandstraรŸe and adjacent railway lines were temporarily closed for the operation.

The exact location of the Cologne bomb defusal is not specified, and the number of people affected by the evacuation, if any, is not known at this time. What is known is that the bomb was successfully defused, and the cordons will be lifted shortly after the successful operation.

The Frankfurt fire department announced the successful defusal of their bomb on "X" in the afternoon. Meanwhile, a new bomb was found in Cologne after the initial defusal, but more information about this discovery is yet to be released.

The discovery and defusal of these World War II bombs serve as a reminder of the historical significance of the era and the ongoing efforts to ensure safety in modern-day Germany. The public is advised to stay informed and follow any instructions from local authorities in the affected areas.
