Boosting production workflows via advanced AI and automation by Avid

At this year's International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), Avid has announced a series of upgrades to its product suite, aiming to drive efficiencies through creative workflows across production.

One of the key advancements is the adaptation of Avid DNx 4.0 workflows, which now offer customisable bitrates and HDR-ready formats. Built-in automation streamlines transcoding, proxy creation, and delivery, making the process smoother and more efficient.

Avid has also enhanced its speech-to-text and transcription capabilities. Pro Tools, Media Composer, and MediaCentral AI solutions now offer improved transcription, with Pro Tools automation and scripting with Soundflow and the Pro Tools Scripting SDK introduced to cut down repetitive tasks.

Quickture will provide a Media Composer Panel for fast, AI-powered transcription and sequence creation through natural language requests. This innovation promises to significantly speed up workflows, particularly in the transcription and organisation of content.

Avid's partner ecosystem, comprising over 600 global partners, is also expanding. Notable collaborations include the UHD World Association (UWA) supporting the Audio Vivid immersive audio format within Pro Tools, enhancing spatial audio production workflows.

Other partners focus on AI tools, automation, open APIs, and developer SDKs that integrate seamlessly with Avid's solutions to accelerate media production and postproduction processes. Demonstrations at IBC will feature partnerships with Quickture, Flawless, Acclaim Audio, Traco.ai, Digital Nirvana, and Streamwell.

Digital Nirvana will offer MetadataIQ for MediaCentral and Media Composer, AI-powered workflows for scene descriptions, detailed audio & video metadata, and sequence creation across live and archived content. Traco.ai will provide a MediaCentral App for automated transcription, translation, summarisation, and contextual search, with content analysis capabilities.

Acclaim Audio will offer ESION Studio Panel inside Media Composer, featuring AI-powered audio tools for volume levelling, loudness normalisation, noise reduction, and automatic removal of filler words. Streamwell will offer a Media Composer Panel for low-latency live streaming and remote collaboration tools, customisable for broadcasters and creatives.

Flawless will offer a DeepEditor for Media Composer, an AI-assisted lip sync tool for creative control over dialogue in post. The MediaCentral Rules Engine and Schedule Engine are now fully integrated, enabling newsrooms to automate content processing and scheduling with intelligent logic.

Lastly, Avid will not repeat earlier upgrades such as built-in transcription and translation tools for Pro Tools, Media Composer, and MediaCentral solutions, or the MediaCentral Rules Engine and Schedule Engine integration. The latest advances are enabling creators to realise tangible value from AI solutions.
