On November 16, 2024, the Police Inspectorate Heidekreis carried out a large-scale control operation on the A7 motorway. The operation, which lasted for multiple hours, aimed at ensuring road safety and enforcing traffic laws.

The control forces, supported by deployment teams from the Police Directorate Hannover, the Police Directorate Oldenburg, and the Main Customs Office Hannover, redirected traffic heading towards Hannover to the rest area "Vorm Wietzenbruch" and conducted thorough searches of vehicles after prior selection.

A total of 181 vehicles and 229 persons were checked during the control. Numerous violations were detected, and the control on the A7 led to the detection of drug-related offenses in addition to traffic violations.

The Police Inspectorate Heidekreis continued to seize large quantities of marijuana during the operation. Upon further inspection, more than 15 kilograms of marijuana were found in a rental vehicle, packed in three sports bags in the trunk. The 26-year-old driver of the vehicle tested positive for THC during a urine test.

Eight persons were required to submit a blood test. The deployment forces also seized over one kilogram of marijuana from a car with a 33-year-old driver during the control on the A7.

The control on the A7 was not the first time the Police Inspectorate Heidekreis had conducted a large-scale control. The control on the A7 was not limited to enforcing traffic laws, but also aimed at combating drug trafficking. The control was a successful operation in terms of drug seizures and enforcement of traffic laws.
