Bayer Leverkusen Search for New Coach After Ten Hag's Dismissal

Bayer Leverkusen, the reigning Bundesliga runners-up, are currently in search of a new coach to replace Erik ten Hag, who was dismissed after just three games. The Dutch coach lost the team's support and allegedly alienated the club's bosses, including CEO Fernando Carro and sporting director Simon Rolfes.

The team's poor start to the season, with a loss to Hoffenheim 1:2 and a draw against Werder Bremen, squandering a 3:1 lead, has added to the pressure. CEO Carro has stated that they are working hard to find a quick solution for the coach vacancy.

Initially, talks were held last week with Barcelona legend Xavi regarding the coach position at Bayer Leverkusen. However, the new coach set to train next Tuesday is Kasper Hjulmand, who signed a contract until 2027.

Carro has mentioned that there have been many Spanish names mentioned as potential candidates for the coach position, not just Raul. The former world-class player has been reported as an option for the role, but Carro has declined to comment on the Spanish media reports linking Raul to the position.

Roger Schmidt and Edin Terzic are also reportedly on the list of potential candidates. The aim is for the new coach to start training on the next Tuesday, but this is not yet guaranteed. The coach search is ongoing, and the team is not yet certain when a decision will be made.

Ten Hag expressed feelings that the relationship lacked mutual trust and criticized the swift separation. He stated, "I feel that the relationship lacked mutual trust, and I was surprised by the decision to sack me so quickly."

The DFL general assembly was attended by Bayer Leverkusen's CEO Fernando Carro, where he discussed the team's current situation and the ongoing search for a new coach. Carro has not provided any specific names of the Spanish candidates that have been mentioned for the coach position.

As Bayer Leverkusen continues its search for a new coach, fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the new appointment. The team will hope that the new coach can help them return to their winning ways and challenge for the Bundesliga title once again.
