BPOL NRW: Counterfeiting operation unveiled by federal police - Iraqi woman with fraudulent identity documents apprehended at Cologne/Bonn airport
A 34-year-old Iraqi woman was arrested at Cologne/Bonn Airport on September 1st, following an incident where she attempted to use a forged Swedish ID near the airport. The German federal police (Bundespolizei) conducted the arrest, which was confirmed by the Federal Police Directorate Saint Augustine via news aktuell.
According to the police, the woman entered the country from Malta. Upon arrival, during a routine check, it was discovered that she could not provide any documents to prove her legal entry or stay in the federal territory. The Swedish ID card presented by the individual was determined to be a forgery.
After completing police measures, the woman was released with a referral certificate for the initial reception center in Bochum. The federal police have initiated a criminal investigation regarding the case, and the woman is now suspected of illegal residence, forgery, and obtaining false official documents.
During the interrogation, an Arabic-speaking interpreter was used, and the woman made a request for protection. The federal police emphasized the importance of their controls at German airports following this case, preventing an illegal entry due to their intervention.
