Brands of fuet, including Can Duran, La Tabla, and Origin du Gout, have been flagged for potential salmonella contamination

In a recent development, the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued an alert, advising consumers not to consume fuet products from the brands Can Duran, La Tabla, and Origin du Gout. This warning comes following the discovery of salmonella in these products.

The affected fuet products, all suitable for ambient temperature storage, have been traced back to various autonomous communities in Spain, including Andalusia, Aragon, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y LeΓ³n, Cantabria, Catalonia, Valencian Community, and Madrid. They have also been distributed to France, Portugal, and Andorra.

The Rapid Information Exchange Coordinated System (SCIRI) has been activated to ensure the removal of these affected products from distribution channels. AESAN also advises businesses to remove these products for health reasons.

Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause salmonellosis if it contaminates waters or foods. It is commonly found in raw or undercooked eggs, raw or undercooked meats, shellfish, milk or dairy products, raw vegetables or fruits irrigated with contaminated waters.

Symptoms of salmonellosis include fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting, headache, or malaise. These symptoms usually appear a few hours after ingesting a contaminated product, with a duration of symptoms between 2 and 7 days.

It is most advisable not to consume the affected fuet products if one has them at home. If the affected products have been consumed and symptoms such as diarrhea or vomiting accompanied by fever and headache appear, it could be a case of salmonellosis, and a health center should be visited.

It is important to note that salmonellosis can have more serious consequences in children, the elderly, or the sick.

At this time, there are no relevant search results specifying the affected Fuet products from Can Duran, La Tabla, and Origin du Gout. Redistributions of the affected fuet products to other autonomous communities cannot be ruled out.

Consumers are advised to stay vigilant and follow the guidance provided by AESAN and other health authorities.
