Brazilian Court Orders Gambling Operator to Pay $30,000 to Bettor

The Brazilian Court of Justice of the Federal District and Territories has summoned a gambling operator, MCR 73 Investimento LTDA, to pay BRL 169,000 (around $30,000) to a bettor who won on the Fortune Tiger slot game but was not fully paid. The bettor had placed a wager of BRL 1,460 on a New York Mets vs Toronto Blue Jays game at odds of 1.69. Initially, the operator, believed to be associated with Bet365, paid less than the BRL 2,467.40 the bettor should have received. The court, however, ruled in favor of the bettor, citing Brazil's Consumer Protection Code. The operator, operating under the name HS do Brasil, has been given 20 days to comply with the payment order. Failure to do so will result in the court treating the case as a civil matter. The court's decision sets a precedent for protecting bettors' rights in Brazil. MCR 73 Investimento LTDA, potentially linked to Bet365, must now honor the full payment to the bettor within the specified timeframe.
