Breakdown in water main causes full blockage on Bonnstraße

A water pipe burst on Bonnstraße between Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium and Villering, causing a full closure of the street as of 21st May 2025. The local municipal water utility or public works department is responsible for the repairs, and Hürth Stadtwerke has apologised for any inconvenience caused.

The closure is expected to last until mid-next week, with the street expected to reopen to traffic around 10:00 AM on 26th May 2025. Updates on progress and the time of reopening will be provided promptly.

During the closure, the following bus stops will be affected: Town Hall/Civic Center, Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium, Church Center, and German Ring. Passengers at "Town Hall/Civic Center" and "Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium" stops should use the regular "Hürth Mitte (ZOB)" stop. Passengers at the "German Ring" stop should use line 711 to "De Bütt" and line 720 to "De Bütt" or "Komturring". Passengers at the "Church Center" stop should use "Hürth Mitte (ZOB)" or "De Bütt".

Access via Hohlweg remains possible during the closure. The barrier on Bonnstraße will be removed during the morning of 26th May 2025.

To accommodate the closure, bus lines 711 and 720 via the Federal Language Office are being rerouted in both directions. Line 711 will circle around the Sudetenstraße/Bonnstraße roundabout on trips from Hürth Mitte (ZOB) and then take the detour route via Theresienhöhe, Frechener Straße, and Sudetenstraße. Line 720 will resume its regular route from the "Komturring" stop towards Hürth Mitte (ZOB).

Water must be shut off in the affected area for repair work from 4:00 PM on 21st May 2025. The surface works on Bonnstraße have been completed as of 20th May 2025.

Residents have already been informed about the closure. Hürth Stadtwerke is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. They apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank the public for their understanding and patience.
