Horse Rescued from Muddy Predicament in Boulder County
A dramatic horse rescue took place in Boulder County on Thursday afternoon, as officials successfully extricated a horse named Sweetie, an adult mare, from a muddy predicament.
The incident occurred on a property located in the 6200 block of Plateau Road, southwest of Longmont, approximately two miles northwest of Niwot. The Boulder County Sheriff's Office received a report about the stuck horse around 1:08 p.m.
According to reports, Sweetie had become stuck in the mud at the property. In an effort to free the horse, the property owner also found themselves stuck. Fortunately, a neighbour stepped in and called 911 for assistance.
The Animal Protection Unit, Emergency Services Unit, Boulder Fire Rescue, Boulder Rural Fire Rescue, and Boulder Emergency squad all responded to the scene to free the horse. A veterinarian from VetweRx Equine, a veterinary group based in Longmont, provided care during the rescue.
The Boulder Humane Society provided the veterinarian who was involved in the rescue attempt. Following the successful rescue, Sweetie is currently being evaluated by veterinary personnel to assess her condition.
Unfortunately, no further information is provided about the condition of the horse or the property owner after the rescue. The community is hopeful for Sweetie's swift recovery.
This incident serves as a reminder to always prioritize safety when attempting to help animals in distress and to seek professional assistance when necessary.
