British Railway Firm Garners Three Awards at Rail Industry Honors
In a grand ceremony at the Rail Business Awards, GB Railfreight (GBRf) was crowned 'Rail Business of the Year' for the third time, marking a significant milestone in the company's history. This prestigious award is a testament to GBRf's strong relationships with their customers and partners, and their continuous commitment to innovation and excellence in customer service.
The success at the awards night also brought recognition for Chris Hopcroft MBE, a former GBRf employee who received the Lifetime Achievement award for his 60 years of service in the railway industry. Hopcroft's career spans over six decades, during which he provided outstanding dedication in all his roles, most recently as one of GBRf's Train Managers.
Hopcroft was previously recognized with an MBE in 1994 for his services to the safety of young people. His commitment to the community, particularly in educating young people on rail safety, has been instrumental in promoting a safer railway environment.
In addition to the 'Rail Business of the Year' award, GBRf also won the 'Training and Education Excellence award'. This recognition came following their £1 million investment in class 66 simulators in Peterborough. The training centre, expected to transform GBRf's ability to develop the next generation of Train Managers, will also serve as a resource for training the future rail professionals.
John Smith, Managing Director of GBRf, stated that the success at the Rail Business Awards highlights the quality and dedication of the GBRf team. He further added that the investment in the class 66 simulators is a step towards creating a world-class training centre, intended to support the growth of the rail freight sector.
The Rail Business Awards are a recognition of GBRf's long-term commitment to innovation and excellence in customer service. The company's unwavering dedication to safety, training, and community engagement has positioned them as a leader in the rail freight industry. With the new training centre and continued investment in their team, GBRf is poised to continue delivering excellence in the service they provide.
