Brussels set to open its inaugural canine-themed cafe

On the 4th of September 2025, Brussels' Ixelles neighbourhood will welcome a unique cafe that promises to bring a fresh twist to the local scene. Dogood, a brainchild of France Marlier, Garance van der Dussen, and Niccolo Fero, is set to become more than just a place for a cup of coffee.

Dogood is an osteopath- and canine physiotherapist-led cafe that caters to both dog owners and their pets. The menu, prepared by Niccolo Fero, a chef with 20 years of experience, offers a variety of delicacies for humans, as well as a large selection of animal treats for dogs. All food served at Dogood is non-toxic to dogs, ensuring a safe environment for our four-legged friends.

The cafe's design is thoughtfully created to welcome dogs, with an airlock system at the entrance to manage the number of dogs inside. The space is not large, allowing for everyone to see and interact with each other, fostering a social atmosphere. The cafe's employees are trained in the hospitality industry and canine communication to ensure smooth interactions.

Dogood aims to be more than just a trendy cafe; it also strives to foster a more inclusive work environment. The cafe will employ workers with disabilities, providing them with opportunities and creating a welcoming space for all. Dogood also collaborates with service personnel with disabilities.

In addition to its unique approach of combining a dog-friendly environment with occasional shelter dog presentations, Dogood will collaborate with the organisation Sans Collier once a month to present a shelter dog for adoption. On the day of the shelter dog presentation, only the shelter dog will be allowed in the cafe to reduce stress. A small disclaimer on the door reminds visitors that dogs are the priority, but owners remain responsible for their pets.

Dogood dog cafe is more than just a place to grab a bite or a cup of coffee. It's a place where dogs and their owners can socialise, enjoy delicious food, and potentially find a new furry friend. With its opening on the 4th of September 2025, Brussels' Ixelles neighbourhood is about to become a hub for dog lovers.
