Bucharest residents express traffic, living expenses, and pollution as their leading worries in a recent survey

According to a recent survey conducted by the Centre for Urban and Regional Sociology (CURS) between August 12 and 22, Bucharest's residents are expressing concerns about the city's direction. The survey involved a sample of 1,100 adults, and the results suggest a divided opinion among residents.

The most urgent issue highlighted by 14% of respondents was pollution, followed closely by the cost of living, which concerned 17%. Infrastructure gaps, environmental pressures, and the heating system, a chronic issue in the capital during the winter months, were each a concern for 8%, 16%, and 10% of respondents, respectively.

When asked about the most urgent issue City Hall should address, 17% of respondents pointed to traffic congestion. Hospitals, cleanliness, and the city's growth and modernization were also concerns for significant portions of the population. However, parking and public transport were placed at the bottom of residents' concerns.

The survey results reveal widespread dissatisfaction with Bucharest's direction, with 60% of respondents saying the city is heading the wrong way. Only 33% of participants expressed confidence that the capital is moving in the right direction, while the remainder were either uncertain or critical about the city's direction.

The city's growth and modernization are complex challenges for local authorities, as they are accompanied by infrastructure and environmental challenges. The survey results underscore the need for City Hall to address these issues and work towards improving the quality of life for Bucharest's residents.

In conclusion, the survey results highlight the need for City Hall to address pollution, the cost of living, infrastructure gaps, environmental pressures, and traffic congestion in order to improve the city's direction and satisfaction among its residents.
