Fire Breaks Out at Car Dismantler in Bottrop

A significant incident occurred in Bottrop, Germany, on Thursday afternoon, as a fire broke out in a warehouse of a car dismantler. The fire department was alerted at around 4:45 PM, and by the time they arrived, the fire had engulfed the entire warehouse.

The volunteer fire departments from Boy, Vonderort, Feldhausen, and Kirchhellen, along with the fire department of Altstadt and the turntable ladder from Kirchhellen, were called to the scene to assist in extinguishing the fire. A total of approximately 70 people were involved in the operation.

The fire department used a B-pipe, four C-pipes, and the turntable ladder's monitor for firefighting efforts. Neighboring buildings were protected by a firewall, ensuring that the spread of the fire was contained.

Two individuals were lightly injured during the extinguishing attempts, and they were treated by the rescue service and transported to a local hospital. The population was warned via the NINA warning app due to heavy smoke.

No information about the extent of the damage to the warehouse or the car dismantler's operations is available at this time. The police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire, and further details have not been released.

Kim Heimann, the fire chief of Bottrop, is the contact person for further information regarding the incident at the car dismantling operation in the southern district. He has been mentioned as the head of the fire department in recent Bottrop reports from August 2025.

Additional off-duty personnel were staffed in the control center to manage the increased coordination effort. For inquiries, you can contact the Fire Department Bottrop Press Office at telephone number 02041 / 7803-115 or email [email protected].
