Building site under construction

In the heart of the city, a significant construction project is set to transform Schlossplatz. Here's a rundown of the changes and important information for residents and visitors.

Access Closure and Alternative Route

The main access from the Theater Square to the Castle Square will be closed for approximately four months, with the Lange Street between Rosental and the Castle Square entrance serving as the only accessible route during construction. A barrier-free access to the Castle Square and the Castle will be provided via a separately cordoned-off path from Rosental.

Construction Phase at "Red Gate"

The construction phase at "Red Gate" will involve extensive infrastructure work, including the installation of stormwater drain, wastewater drain, and electrical systems. This work will result in a widened driving lane in front of the Piccoli ice cream parlor.

Pedestrian-Only Path

The path from Rosental will be pedestrian-only during construction, ensuring the safety of pedestrians as the construction progresses.

Resident Access

Residents of the Castle Square are asked to only use their access permits in urgent cases to minimise disruption.

Traffic Considerations

A certain additional traffic volume in the Lange Street outside the permitted entry times cannot be completely avoided. Construction companies will make efforts to avoid driving into the Lange Street during peak business hours.

Infrastructure Work

Numerous supply and disposal lines, including stormwater drain, wastewater drain, and electrical installation, will be collected and connected during excavation at the "Red Gate." The exact construction companies involved in this project are not yet available.
