Bus traveler inflicts severe harm on bus operator

On Thursday afternoon, a disturbing incident took place at the bus stop located at Sodagraben and Leipziger Straße in Bergheim-Kenten. A dispute between a 25-year-old passenger and a 59-year-old bus driver resulted in a serious assault, leaving the driver with multiple blows to the head.

Emergency services attended the scene and treated both the bus driver and an 11-year-old passenger. Unfortunately, the bus driver was severely injured and was taken to a hospital for further treatment. The 11-year-old passenger, on the other hand, was reportedly lightly injured.

A 14-year-old passenger on the bus recognized the suspect and informed officers at the scene about his whereabouts. The suspect was found in a nearby garden on "Kentener Heide". The officers took the suspect's details and statement at the mentioned location.

The suspect, aged 25, is facing charges, including the suspicion of dangerous bodily harm. A criminal complaint has been filed against him.

Despite the efforts of the officers, the suspect remains at large. Further investigations have been initiated by the officers of Criminal Investigation Department 21.
