BYD Debuts Fangchengbao Tai 3 Black Myth: Wukong Edition at ChinaJoy 2025

Chinese carmaker BYD has made a splash at Asia's largest digital entertainment expo, ChinaJoy 2025, by debuting the Fangchengbao Tai 3 Black Myth: Wukong edition. This special edition car is a tie-up with the popular video game Black Myth: Wukong, an action RPG based on the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West by Wu Cheng'en.

The Fangchengbao Tai 3 Black Myth: Wukong edition boasts a striking design, with a black base color and prominent gold decals and accents. The rear-mounted cargo box features the Fangchengbao logo and "Wukong" lettering in gold, while the two-tone black and gold wheels add to the car's imposing presence. A fixed rear spoiler and reworked front bumper with an enormous splitter, roof-mounted spotlights, added lighting elements around the guards, and a bonnet with intake-like styling complete the look.

BYD has a history of producing special edition vehicles tied to popular games, and the Tai 3 Black Myth: Wukong edition is no exception. The Chinese studio Game Science developed and published Black Myth: Wukong, which has been wildly successful, garnering numerous Game of the Year awards and selling more than 20 million copies in its first month on sale. BYD has also produced other models as a tie-in with the game, including a BYD Han L sedan, Seal 06 GT hatch, and Denza Z9 GT, which were previously shown at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show.

The Tai 3 Black Myth: Wukong edition is the smallest model from BYD's Fangchengbao brand and the first model in Fangchengbao's "Tai" (Chinese for "Titanium") model range. The other two models from Fangchengbao's "Tai" range, the Bao ("Leopard") 5 and Bao 8, are likely to be coming to New Zealand as the Denza B5 and B8.

ChinaJoy 2025 was the venue for the debut of the Fangchengbao Tai 3 Black Myth: Wukong edition, and it is clear that this car is inspired by the mythical powers of Sun Wukong (the Monkey King) from the game. With its striking design and ties to a successful video game, the Fangchengbao Tai 3 Black Myth: Wukong edition is sure to turn heads.
