Cadillac's Electric V-Series Could Be the Next Era of High-Performance Vehicles
Cadillac is marking a significant milestone this year with the 20th anniversary of its V-Series, a performance division that embodies the brand's passion for speed and luxury. In an exciting turn of events, the American automaker is returning to the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, a prestigious race event, to celebrate this milestone and defend its win from last year.
The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring serves as a fitting venue for this celebration, as it was at this very raceway that V-Series made its debut in 2004 with the CTS-V.R race car's first victory. Since then, for two decades, V-Series products have brought bold American craftsmanship, technology, and performance to the street and track.
Brandon Vivian, executive chief engineer of Cadillac, emphasises the transformative relationship between Cadillac's championship-winning motorsports program and road vehicles. "V-Series forges a transformative relationship between our championship-winning motorsports program and road vehicles," he stated.
In line with this ethos, Cadillac has unveiled a concept vehicle named Opulent Velocity, designed to celebrate the brand's past, present, and future, particularly its performance division, V-Series. The mission of the Opulent Velocity concept is to demonstrate the evolution of Cadillac's sense of opulence and envision the future of high-velocity performance driving.
The No. 31 Whelen Cadillac team, striving to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the V-Series and defend the previous success of team number 31 Whelen Cadillac at this year's Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, is Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing.
Racing continues to serve as a testbed for Cadillac, transferring knowledge and technology between race cars and production vehicles. The latest iterations of Cadillac's iconic V-Series, the 2025 CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing, debuted in January. These models feature a refreshed look while maintaining the renowned power, refinement, and performance enthusiasts expect, on and off the track.
Bryan Nesbitt, executive director of Cadillac Global Design, hinted at the future with Opulent Velocity. He stated that the concept foreshadows a zero-emissions expression of performance and modern luxury leadership. No further details about Opulent Velocity have been shared yet, but Cadillac plans to reveal more later this year.
As Cadillac returns to the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring this weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of V-Series, it is clear that the brand's commitment to performance and luxury remains as strong as ever. V-Series represents the purest expression of the passion at the core of the Cadillac brand, a passion that continues to drive innovation and excellence in the world of automotive performance.
