In the heart of the Cannes Film Festival 2023, a film that has been garnering attention for its unique musical score and heartfelt theme is "Partir un jour." Directed by Amélie Bonnin, the film is Out of Competition at this year's festival.

The film's soundtrack features an eclectic mix of tracks, including Alors On Danse by Stromae, Mourir sur scène by Dalida, Pour que tu m'aimes encore by Céline Dion, Femme Like U by K. Maro, and Partir un jour by 2Be3. The music, a significant aspect of the film, evokes childhood or youthful emotions, adding a layer of nostalgia to the story.

Juliette Binoche, president of the jury at the festival, commented on the film, stating, "It's not about a sacred monster, but a man subject to the law." Her remarks were in reference to Gerard Depardieu, who has been convicted in absentia for sexual harassment and violence against two women, a conviction related to the film "Les Volets verts" from 2021. Depardieu, however, has announced that he will appeal his conviction.

"Partir un jour" follows the story of Cécile, played by Juliette Armanette, a character who is about to open a gourmet restaurant in Paris. However, an urgent news forces her to return to her hometown, where her family runs a truck stop restaurant with excellent cuisine. The family atmosphere brings back old passions for an old flame, Raphael (Bastien Bouillon).

Cécile's personal situation affects her and her partner Sofiane's (Tewfik Jallab) future, and the film explores the theme of selflessness as Cécile puts her personal and professional life on hold to help her family. Cécile learned cooking from her father, played by François Rollin, who taught her how to cut food, prepare it, mix aromas, recognize tastes, and combine them.

The director of the film, Amélie Bonnin, was born in 1985. Despite the film going unnoticed at the opening scenes of the Cannes Film Festival 2023, it has stood out through its music and emotional storytelling.

Juliette Binoche's presence at the festival has added an air of anticipation, with the jury eagerly awaiting her decisions. As the festival continues, "Partir un jour" promises to be a film that will resonate with audiences, offering a poignant exploration of love, family, and the power of music.
