Capital city Ha Noi conducts a complete dress rehearsal in preparation for National Day festivities
In the heart of Hanoi, the full-dress rehearsal for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day took place on Saturday morning at 6.30am. The grand event, which will be held on September 2nd, saw the participation of nearly 16,000 officers and soldiers, including 43 marching formations, contingents from foreign militaries, 18 static formations, and 14 mechanised columns.
The rehearsal, held at Ba Dinh Square and central streets of Ha Noi, showcased a spectacle of military might and modernisation. The parade included the participation of the Air Force, with YAK aircraft formations and a formation of ten Air Force helicopters carrying the Party flag and the national flag over the reviewing stand.
The parade was a display of various military equipment, including Artillery troops, BM-21 rocket launchers, Scud-B ballistic missile systems, Redut-M coastal missile systems, Armored tracked Su-152 self-propelled artillery, and the Truong Son surface-to-surface missile system developed by Viettel. Scud B missiles and An S-125-VT air defence missile system were also part of the grand display.
The parade's contingents demonstrated the heroic spirit of the people's armed forces, showcasing the modernisation of the Vietnamese People's Army and People's Public Security. Participating in the parade were formations of a tank, a female traffic officers, and the Hi-tech Crime Prevention, People's Public Security Special Forces, and the Cyber Operations Force.
The rehearsal commenced with the torch relay, lighting the ceremonial flame. A vehicle bearing the emblem of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day passed the reviewing stand. The event featured a flypast of squadrons of the heroic Vietnamese People's Air Force and a 21-gun salute to the National Anthem at My Dinh National Stadium.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinch was present to review the rehearsal, and the event also saw the presence of foreign dignitaries. Belarus, whose president Alexander Lukashenko attended and sent congratulations, was one of the participating countries. Cuba hosted a commemorative event attended by Vietnamese and Cuban leaders and diplomats. However, the specific participation of other countries in the parade itself was not explicitly detailed.
Thousands of students cheered on the parade and performed artistic formations during the rehearsal. The event concluded with flames rising from the ceremonial torch, symbolising the spirit of revolution and national pride. The grand military parade, a testament to Vietnam's military might and national unity, is set to take place on September 2nd.
