Cardiff City Welcomes Nigerian International Defender Gabriel Osho

Cardiff City has bolstered their squad for the upcoming season with the addition of Gabriel Osho, a 27-year-old defender who has signed a four-year contract with the Welsh club.

Osho, who began his career in Reading, England, returns to English football after a stint with French Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre. He moved to Auxerre in July 2024 and made 21 top-flight appearances for an unspecified team in the 2023/24 season before joining Cardiff City.

The defender's decision to return to English football was influenced by the opportunity to reunite with Cardiff City's manager, Brian Barry-Murphy, who he worked under at Rochdale. Osho also gained valuable experience on loan at Bristol Rovers, Yeovil Town, and Rochdale.

In the 2022/23 season, Osho played a key role in Luton Town's promotion to the Premier League. He has also represented Nigeria's national team, earning two international caps for the Super Eagles.

Speaking about his move to Cardiff City, Osho expressed his excitement about joining the club and starting his new journey. "I'm thrilled to be joining Cardiff City and can't wait to get started," he said. "I've worked with Brian before and I know what a great coach he is. I'm looking forward to helping the team achieve success."

Eleven senior players left Cardiff City after their relegation from the Championship last season, so Osho's arrival is a welcome boost for the squad. The club's other incoming signing this summer is Nathan Trott, who is on loan from Copenhagen.

Osho started both of AJ Auxerre's opening Ligue 1 games this term against Lorient and Nice, and he will be hoping to bring that form to Cardiff City as they look to bounce back from their relegation.

With Osho's addition to the squad, Cardiff City fans can look forward to an exciting new season with a strong defence to support their attack.
