Casino earnings in Maine decreased by 2.8% compared to the previous year in June.

The Maine Gambling Unit has released the headline figure for the state's commercial casinos' revenue in June 2025, revealing a combined net revenue of $13.7 million. However, the figures do not account for any potential changes in revenue due to the delay in the introduction of igaming, which has yet to be legalized in Maine.

The revenue from Hollywood Casino in Bangor generated $5.7 million in June 2025, a 9% increase from the $5.2 million it generated in June 2024. This significant increase is in stark contrast to Oxford Casino, which saw a nearly 10% drop in revenue, from $8.9 million in June 2024 to $8 million in June 2025.

Slot machines generated a combined $11.7 million across both casinos in June 2025, while table games contributed nearly $2 million to the total revenue. It's worth noting that the revenue from table games is less than the revenue from slot machines at both casinos combined.

Oxford Casino accounted for 58.5% of the total revenue in June 2025, but its drop in revenue wiped out any gains from Hollywood Casino in Bangor. The delay in the implementation of igaming could impact the future revenue of the casinos and the gambling industry in Maine.

The current status of online gambling (iGaming) in Maine is that the bill to legalize online casino gaming, LD 1164, has been postponed until 2026. Governor Janet Mills neither signed nor vetoed the bill before the legislative session ended in 2025, leaving the bill in a state of limbo and the future of iGaming in Maine uncertain at present.

If the governor takes no action within three days of the legislature's return, the bill could automatically become law, but Mills' past opposition to tribal gambling expansions signals uncertainty about this outcome. LD 1164 would grant exclusive rights to online casino gaming to Maine’s four tribes, mirroring the existing online sports betting model.

Meanwhile, online sports betting is already legal and operational in Maine with providers like Caesars Sportsbook and DraftKings. The evolution of Maine's gambling industry continues, with the possibility of igaming being introduced in the future.
