Catastrophic blaze ravages farm storage facility, including livestock feed, in Chaves
A fire that broke out in the Chaves area of Portugal around 1:20 PM continues to pose a challenge for firefighting teams, with the situation remaining dynamic. The fire has affected areas of woods, agricultural land, and pastures, and even reached a warehouse storing hay, straw, and grain.
The sub-regional commander of Alto Tâmega and Barroso, Artur Mota, reported that the situation was "more favorable", but the fire is still burning with intensity in some areas. He also noted that the wind, which had been a significant obstacle throughout the afternoon and evening, had "significantly decreased in intensity". The increase in humidity during the night, according to Mota, could help control the fire overnight.
The community has shown unity in helping to extinguish the flames. The authority that mobilized 250 personnel and 81 vehicles at 10:20 PM to fight the fire is not specified. The dairy farmer, a 52-year-old man, is in a difficult situation due to the fire. Despite the challenges, the operational teams continue their efforts to contain the fire. The incident is the most serious in the parish due to today's fire in Santo António de Monforte.
