Catastrophic blazes in Friesland and Zuid-Holland region leave two individuals deceased
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, two separate fire incidents occurred in different regions of the Netherlands, resulting in a tragic loss of life.
In Dirkland, Zuid-Holland, a 15-year-old boy lost his life due to injuries sustained in a fire. The flat where the incident occurred has been declared a crime scene by the police, although they are not currently investigating the death as a crime. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
The police are currently investigating the death of the person found in the fire. It's important to note that this incident is a separate event from a fire that occurred in Drachten, Friesland, where a person was also found dead following the fire.
In Drachten, a fire broke out at a flat, but the 15-year-old boy who died in Dirkland did not reside in the flat where the fire occurred in Drachten. The incident in Drachten is not related to the fire and death in Dirkland.
A fire brigade spokesman confirmed the incidents and made a statement to Omrop Fryslân, but no further information about the victims' identities has been released. The police are not currently releasing any statements about the fire or the death of the 15-year-old boy in Dirkland to Omrop Fryslân.
The fire in Drachten took place earlier on Monday, while the fire in Dirkland occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Both fires have now been brought under control.
The police are urging anyone with information about either incident to come forward and contact the authorities. The investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
