Celebrating half a century of the mobile library: Invitation to the anniversary festivity
On Saturday, September 13, the City Library of Osnabrück is celebrating a significant milestone - the 50th anniversary of its mobile library, the Book Bus. This event promises a day filled with reading, activities, and fun for children and families, taking place from 11 am to 5 pm at the parking lot of the Kita Landwehr, Quebecallee 17, 49090 Osnabrück.
The highlight of the day will be the reading of the popular children's book "The Pudelschwein" by author Jennifer Schotter at 2 pm. This heartwarming story follows a pig named Pu as he embarks on a journey to find friends and his place in the world. Dr. Sabine Schulte will also be reading from the book.
"The Pudelschwein" is just one of the many books, audiobooks, magazines, comics, DVDs, video games, and more that the Book Bus features. Since its launch in June 1975, the Book Bus has been modernized twice and has been serving over 35 stops throughout the city of Osnabrück. It regularly visits schools, kindergartens, and after-school care facilities, bringing media directly to the people in the city's districts.
The event offers a colorful program designed for children and families. Activities include book bowling and creating creative bookmarks. Additionally, those interested can get a library card on the spot. Admission to the event is free, and registration for the reading event is requested at 0541 323-2007 or [email protected].
The Book Bus event is not just a celebration of books but also a testament to the enduring power of reading and the library's commitment to making it accessible to everyone. So, mark your calendars and join the City Library of Osnabrück in celebrating 50 years of the Book Bus on September 13.
