Celebration at Clemens Sels: A Day for Families to Unite and Enjoy
The Clemens Sels Museum in Neuss is set to host a unique "double feature" event on June 4, 2023, starting at 11:30 AM. This special day offers a guided tour for adults and a children's workshop, both focusing on the fascinating topic of fishing history.
The guided tour for adults will delve into the special exhibition "Fish Land River. A Journey through the Fishing History of the Lower Rhine." Led by art mediator Melanie Seidler, this 60-minute tour promises an enlightening exploration of the role of fish as a significant food source throughout history. The Rhine and Erft rivers once provided ample fish, but industrialization has unfortunately impacted fish populations negatively.
Meanwhile, the children's workshop, led by archaeologist Jost Auler, offers a hands-on learning experience. Participants will learn how to tie fisherman and sailor knots, providing a fun and educational activity for young minds.
The cost for the 60-minute guided tour is €4 for adults, and admission is free as it is on the first Sunday of every month. For the children's workshop, which lasts 90 minutes, children pay €4 for participation and an additional €2 for materials.
Registration is required for all offers. You can register by calling 02131-904141 from Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sundays, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
In addition to the event, the Clemens Sels Museum in Neuss offers a free newsletter providing in-depth information about social developments, culinary arts, art, and culture in Neuss. Subscribing to the newsletter does not result in spam, and to confirm your subscription, check your inbox or spam folder.

Two more guided tours are scheduled for Friday, June 2, 2023. The first starts at 11:30 AM, led by Dr. Jan-Philipp Heinisch and Elke Bollen, and the second starts at 1:00 PM, led by Jost Auler.
