Chennai's Festive Season Kicks Off with a Flurry of Cultural and Fashion Events
The city of Chennai is buzzing with excitement as the festive season has begun. This year, the city is hosting a variety of shopping events, including exhibitions and pop-ups, that are attracting art enthusiasts and fashion aficionados alike.
One such event is the collaboration between Lalit Kala Akademi and thirty-seven of India's most compelling artists for the exhibition titled, Contemporary Now. This exhibition, which took place during the festive season, engages with themes of identity, ecology, politics, tradition, and storytelling, offering a thought-provoking experience for all visitors.
Another noteworthy event was the exhibition at the Cholamandalam Artists' Village. This unique event combined old-school craft with a modern twist, offering a unique sensory experience for guests. They were able to experience stone through all senses as four master artisans from Mahabalipuram demonstrated live stone carving at the event.
Fashion enthusiasts were not left out during the festive season. Luxette, a new pop-up for bespoke luxury, made its Chennai debut during this period. Founded by Afrah Musvee, Anisha Vaibhav Narang, and Heena Poonawala, Luxette offers a mix of contemporary occasion wear and statement accessories.
The founders of Luxette, Kusum Dhanjani and Simran Bagga, were also present at the event. Their pop-up was a hit, with guests appreciating the unique blend of traditional and modern styles.
Meanwhile, the South Zone finals for the P&I Miss India 2025 took place during Chennai's festive season. Tania from Hyderabad was crowned the winner of the South Zone finals and will represent the South in the finals in Goa.
In addition to these events, Neha Roongta Fine Jewellery was presented at Hyatt Regency during the festive season. Known for her love for color, such as rubies, emeralds, and yellow diamonds, Roongta's designs reflect a dialogue between Hong Kong's cosmopolitan edge and India's rich heritage.
