In a significant achievement for the ensemble and the Municipal Music School, the Young Chamber Orchestra Bamberg has won a third prize in the youth chamber orchestra category at the German Orchestra Competition.

Held every four years, this prestigious event for youth chamber orchestras took place from June 14 to 18 in Wiesbaden, Mainz, and Ingelheim. A total of 96 orchestras with approximately 4,000 musicians participated in the competition, making it a tough battle for the coveted prizes.

The Young Chamber Orchestra Bamberg, led by Cezar Salem, managed to stand out among the strong competition from across Germany. Only the Young Chamber Orchestra Stuttgart (second prize) and the Puchheim Youth Chamber Orchestra (first prize) performed better.

The win by the Young Chamber Orchestra Bamberg marks a significant achievement for the ensemble. Bernd Sibler, President of the Bavarian Music Council and former Bavarian State Minister for Science and Arts, praised the orchestra for representing Bavaria at the national level with dignity and setting a strong mark for the quality and diversity of the Bavarian orchestra landscape with their performance.

The event was attended by Mayor Andreas Starke, who congratulated the musicians of the Young Chamber Orchestra Bamberg for their outstanding success. Orchestras from Hannover, Hamburg, Müritz, Potsdam, and the Music Gymnasium Rhineland-Palatinate did not win any prizes.

The orchestras were evaluated in 17 different categories. The Young Chamber Orchestra Bamberg qualified for the competition at a state-level event, the Bavarian Orchestra Competition, which serves as a qualifying event for the German Orchestra Competition. The win took place at a reception in the Maxplatz town hall.

Bernd Sibler also took the opportunity to congratulate the Young Chamber Orchestra Bamberg, stating that their performance has set a high standard for future competitions. This win is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the musicians and their mentors, and a proud moment for the city of Bamberg.
