Champions League Dates Known by Benfica and Sporting for Transfers Involving PSG and Real Madrid
The UEFA has released the match calendar for the Champions League, and Portuguese powerhouses Benfica and Sporting CP are set for an exciting journey in the 2025/26 season.
First up for Benfica is a clash against Spanish giants Real Madrid on January 28. Before that, the Lisbon-based club will play host to Ajax from the Netherlands on November 5, a match that will also see Benfica face Bayer Leverkusen in Germany on the same day.
Sporting, meanwhile, will kick off their Champions League campaign against Italian side Napoli on October 1. They will then face Juventus on October 4, followed by a home game against Kairat Almaty from Kazakhstan on September 18. On November 4, Sporting will face Italian giants Juventus, and on the same day, they will host Ajax and play against Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.
In an interesting turn of events, both Benfica and Sporting will face each other in the Champions League. Benfica will take on Sporting on December 10, while Sporting will face Benfica on January 20. The exact date for their match in the 2025/26 season has not been confirmed yet, but it is expected to be during the league phase starting from August 28, 2025.
Sporting will also meet French side Olympique de Marseille on October 22, and Belgian side Club Brugge on November 26. The Portuguese side will face Spanish side Athletic Bilbao on January 28, and Italian side Paris Saint-Germain on January 21.
Benfica will also face British side Chelsea on September 30, and Newcastle on October 21. In the Champions League, they will meet French side Paris Saint-Germain, but the precise date for their specific game is yet to be announced. However, Bayer 04 Leverkusen's schedule lists PSG matches, but also Benfica matches separately, implying that PSG vs. Benfica matches take place in the group phase sometime after August 28, 2025.
