In Münster, on Monday, Chancellor Friedrich Merz is making an official inaugural visit to the North Rhine-Westphalian (NRW) state government. This marks the fourth such visit after Bavaria, Lower Saxony, and Saarland.
The visit is taking place in the context of the NRW state government, with Hendrik Wüst, the Minister President of NRW (CDU), still at the helm. The town hall in Münster, an important historical site, will host key meetings during the visit.
One of the main focuses of these meetings is Germany's high-tech location. Subsequent meetings with scientists, NRW police officers, and other officials are planned during the visit. A joint cabinet meeting is scheduled to take place as well.
At midday, a joint press conference with NRW Minister President Hendrik Wüst is planned. The Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, with whom Chancellor Merz plans this conference, is Hendrik Wüst.
During the visit, Chancellor Merz will sign the Golden Book of the city of Münster. Parts of the "Westphalian Peace" were negotiated in this very town hall, adding historical significance to the visit.
Subsequent visits to the remaining federal states are expected to follow the visit to NRW. The announcement of these plans was made by the NRW State Chancellery.
