Cheryl Zinn Holcomb: A Life Dedicated to Serving Native American Communities
Cheryl Zinn Holcomb, a dedicated social worker and advocate for Native American communities, passed away on June 29, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM. Born on July 17, 1947, in Colorado Springs, CO, Cheryl spent most of her adult life in Albuquerque.
Cheryl's educational journey began at Roy J. Wasson High School, from which she graduated in 1965. She then pursued her undergraduate studies, earning a B.A in Sociology from the University of New Mexico in 1969. In 1974, she furthered her education by obtaining a M.S.W. in Social Work from Arizona State University. In 1984, she also received a Bookkeeping Certificate from TVI.
Throughout her career, Cheryl worked as a counselor, social services administrator, and grants writer for Native American programs in Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. While specific organization names are not readily available, her work primarily focused on social work and administrative leadership in services for Native American communities.
Cheryl was the only child of Gayle and Ethel Zinn. She lived a life committed to service, making a significant impact in the lives of many.
