Chicago Bears collaborate to design a dreamy bedroom for Elgin's young cancer patient

In the heart of Elgin, Illinois, a young cancer patient named Elijah Powell has received a special gift – a new bedroom designed to celebrate his favourite hobbies and interests.

Elijah, who is 10 years old, is now the proud owner of a welcoming sanctuary, thanks to the combined efforts of several local organisations. Advocate Children's Hospital, Special Spaces, Steinhafels Furniture, and even the Chicago Bears, have all played a role in creating this unique space.

The exact nature of the involvement of each organisation is not specified, but it is clear that they have all contributed in some way to the design and furnishing of the room. The project was overseen by the design team at SCA Architecture, and the room was completed in August 2023.

Meka Morris, the executive vice president of Revenue and chief business officer for the Chicago Bears, expressed her hope that the new bedroom would bring comfort and joy to Elijah and his family. She also noted that the project serves as a reminder of the power of community during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The new bedroom, designed to provide a sanctuary for Elijah during his treatment, is a testament to the kindness and generosity of the local community. It is a space where Elijah can relax, play, and be himself, surrounded by the things he loves most.
