Chicago Help Initiative to hold an annual event, a gala, aimed at aiding Chicago residents in critical situations
The Chicago Help Initiative (CHI) is gearing up for its annual benefit, Carnaval of Giving, an evening of community, compassion, and connection. Scheduled for Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the event will take place at Fogo de Chão, 661 N. LaSalle Drive in River North, Chicago.
Founded by Jacqueline C. Hayes in 2013, CHI operates independently without government funding, relying on private donors, volunteers, and the business community. The organisation's programs serve thousands of Chicagoans in need, offering free meal service, case management, mental health support, housing assistance, adult learning programs, and the Free Store and Move-In Box initiative.
As public safety nets shrink, CHI's model is stepping up to fill the void, one meal, one person, one future at a time. Doug Fraser, CHI's executive director, stated that the event is more than a party, it's a promise to support neighbors.
The event features Brazilian-inspired cuisine, live music, and a community-driven silent auction. Sponsorships offer branding opportunities and VIP recognition, with packages starting at $1,000. All proceeds from the event will directly support CHI's programs.
Funds raised during the event will support CHI's year-round programs, which are crucial as fellow organisations face significant cuts and disruptions to essential services. Purchasing tickets, donating, or becoming a sponsor can be done at this link.
