Children not properly restrained in a vehicle, with the driver neglecting to use child seats, resulting in possible dangerous situations, as shown by the irresponsible behavior exhibited by the driver.
In an unusual turn of events, a woman from Dortmund found herself in hot water with the local authorities on August 25th. The incident, now case number 0742 in Dortmund, saw the woman stopped twice within minutes for a breach of child safety regulations and subsequent resistance towards the police officers involved.
The first traffic stop occurred at the corner of Deipenbeckstraße/Frenkingstraße. The woman, driving a Mercedes with three small children (aged 4, 5, and 7) who were not secured in a child seat, initially cooperated. However, during the course of the interaction, she became uncooperative and aggressive.
Despite being advised not to continue driving without appropriate child seats, the woman resisted further control. This led to a second traffic stop on the provincial road, where her actions escalated, resulting in a report being made to the relevant road traffic authority.
During both stops, the officers noticed that the woman's children were not secured in a child seat. As a result, the woman was temporarily arrested and taken to the Lütgendortmund police station. She was also fined €35 for the overdue main inspection during the first stop.
The woman offered significant resistance during the search at the police station, hiding her keys in her bag. In the patrol car, she insulted the officers in Turkish. One of the officers, who also speaks Turkish, understood the insults. The woman was also reported for resisting and insulting law enforcement officers.
It's important to note that children under 12 years old and shorter than 150 cm must be protected with an appropriate child restraint system. Dortmund Police offers advice on securing child seats according to the manufacturer's instructions.
This incident serves as a reminder to all drivers to ensure the safety of their children while on the road. It's not just a legal requirement, but a matter of life and death. Always prioritise the safety of your loved ones.
