Consul General QIU Xuejun Begins His Tenure in Munich

Consul General QIU Xuejun, the current representative of the People's Republic of China in Munich, Germany, began his official role with an inaugural visit to the Old Town Hall on August 4, 2025.

Prior to his appointment, QIU Xuejun held various positions, including diplomatic posts in the United States. His first visit to the city of Munich, the city of three rivers, marked the start of his tenure in this vibrant Bavarian metropolis.

During his visit, QIU Xuejun was warmly welcomed by Mayor Jürgen Dupper. The focus of his visit was on intercultural exchange and dialogue between China and Bavaria at the municipal level. Current issues such as customs unification and the expansion of future economic relations were also discussed.

Liuzhou, QIU Xuejun's home city, was praised by him. Situated in Guangxi Zhuang, Liuzhou is an important communication hub and an economic and industrial center. It has a wide range of industrial enterprises and is a pilot city for comprehensive economic and political reforms in the People's Republic of China. Liuzhou and Passau share a sister city relationship, established in 2012, fostering cultural and economic exchanges between the two cities.

Passau, a city with a partnership with Liuzhou since 2001, has been regularly visited by Chinese guests, both in groups and individually. During his visit, QIU Xuejun presented Mayor Jürgen Dupper with a gift, and in return, received a book about Passau and a bottle of Stiftswein.

The Old Town Hall in Munich was the location for QIU Xuejun's first visit. On this occasion, 63 students from the People's Republic of China, currently enrolled at the University of Passau, were also present. The conversation between QIU Xuejun and Mayor Jürgen Dupper revolved around culture, economy, and tourism, with particular emphasis.

QIU Xuejun has been serving as Consul General in Munich since November 2024. His responsibilities include the consular care of the Free State of Bavaria. This official visit to the Old Town Hall by QIU Xuejun was an important step in strengthening the ties between Passau and Liuzhou, and between China and Bavaria.
