Santa Barbara Estate Transformed into a Peaceful Sanctuary

The once cold and hard contemporary house in Santa Barbara, purchased by Christopher Lloyd and his wife Lisa for $2.5 million in 2017, has undergone a remarkable transformation. The sleekly revamped estate is now listed for sale at nearly $6.4 million.

The white stucco structure, hidden away behind gates and lush foliage, perched on a knoll amid six acres of terraced land, is described as a "beautiful, private, creative, and peaceful" sanctuary. The transformed residence was filled with calm colors, warm wood floors, and soft, rounded edges.

The primary bedroom in the Santa Barbara property boasts custom plaster finishes, and its bath sports mitered glass walls overlooking a protected public park. The home's design was developed by architects or designers not explicitly named, but the interior was redesigned by DesignARC, Arcadia Studio, and artist Patti Grant.

Outdoors, the property offers various alfresco lounging and entertaining terraces. The estate is anchored by a single-level abode with two bedrooms and an equal number of baths in roughly 2,300 square feet.

Meanwhile, in Vail, CO, a different property is up for sale. This property is a car collector's dream home, listed for $27,000,000 USD. It features a small foyer, a sunken fireside living room, an adjacent dining area, and a kitchen with white oak cabinetry, veined-marble countertops, top-tier appliances, a breakfast bar, and an accompanying butler's pantry. The property also includes a two-car garage and a 1,165-square-foot guest cottage with a living/creative space, a bedroom, and two baths.

Lisa, a former real estate agent and lifelong design enthusiast, remodeled more than half a dozen of her own houses before taking on the Santa Barbara project. The Vail property and the transformed Santa Barbara residence are both special places for Christopher Lloyd and his wife, who took great care in every detail to create restorative and peaceful spaces.
