City authorities mark a significant milestone in their history
Celebrating a Quarter-Century of Service: Karen Alexius-Eifert Honoured in Bottrop
In a heartwarming ceremony, Karen Alexius-Eifert, the head of the Department for Education and Social Affairs in the city of Bottrop, was celebrated for her 25 years of dedicated service. The event was attended by city officials, including Mayor Bernd Tischler, Personnel Council Chair Carsten Pietroscewsky, and First Deputy Emilio Pintea.
Mayor Tischler began the proceedings by presenting a certificate to Alexius-Eifert, acknowledging her key position within the administration. He praised her focus on the social well-being of Bottrop citizens, stating, "Karen's work has been instrumental in ensuring the welfare of our community."
Alexius-Eifert, who began her career as a city inspector trainee in 2000, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the city. She found her work fulfilling and meaningful, and emphasized the importance of collaboration and cooperation with her colleagues. Carsten Pietroscewsky echoed this sentiment, recalling the great challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and the accommodation of refugees, and praising the good and trusting cooperation between Alexius-Eifert and her team.
First Deputy Emilio Pintea also highlighted Alexius-Eifert's role as a "crisis manager," particularly after the start of the Ukraine war. He commended her for her careful handling of the challenges that arose during these difficult times. Mayor Tischler also praised her work during the pandemic, stating, "Karen's leadership and dedication were essential in navigating the complexities of the pandemic and providing necessary support to our citizens."
Since July 2022, Alexius-Eifert has been the deputy mayor for education and social affairs. Her department includes the school and childcare department, the social welfare office, the youth welfare office, the job center for Bottrop, and the migration department - communal integration center. She became the director in 2018, having held various positions, including stints in the social welfare office, the job center, and serving as deputy director of the social welfare office.
Personnel Council Chair Carsten Pietroscewsky congratulated Alexius-Eifert on her anniversary, expressing his admiration for her commitment to the city. He looked forward to continuing to work with her in the years to come. As Alexius-Eifert accepted the certificate, she expressed her gratitude for the recognition and her commitment to continuing to serve the city of Bottrop with dedication and passion.
