City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation welcomes Greg Phillips, an A.A.E., in his new role as Chief Operating Officer.
The City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation has announced the recruitment of Greg Phillips, A.A.E., as its new Chief Operating Officer. Phillips, a seasoned aviation professional, brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in various key positions within the industry.
Phillips' career in aviation began with his service as a helicopter pilot in the Army. After his military service, he pursued his passion for aviation further, earning FAA commercial and instrument pilot ratings for both airplane and helicopter.
One of Phillips' most notable achievements was his role during the development of the Denver International Airport, where he played a key management role at the Federal Aviation Administration. His contributions to the project were significant, and he has since managed numerous airport planning, design, and construction projects throughout his career.
Phillips' leadership skills have been recognised by the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), who have accredited him as an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.). In addition to his professional accolades, Phillips is currently chair of AAAE's Civil/Military Relations Committee. He has also served as a member of the national AAAE Board of Directors.
Before joining the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation, Phillips served as Director of Aviation at the Colorado Springs Airport. Prior to this, he served as Executive Director of Aviation at Vail/Eagle County Regional Airport. Phillips also held the position of Airport Director at Pangborn Memorial Airport in Washington.
City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation CEO Atif Saeed stated that Phillips has proven experience managing teams and projects, making him an ideal candidate for the role. Phillips' focus on exceptional customer service and building positive stakeholder relations is also seen as a valuable asset for the department.
Phillips will begin his new position on May 12, 2025. He graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point, with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, and holds an MBA in executive leadership from the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business.
